Matthew Cooper is a senior game designer for Blizzard Entertainment, currently working on the development team of Heroes of the Storm. His primary role on the team is to create and design the talents in game that players use to customize the play style of each hero. He also helps with leading the balance team. This group is responsible for running play tests and collecting feedback from testers; the balance team uses this data to adjust different aspects of the game, ensuring a consistently fun and balanced experience for players.
Before joining Blizzard, Cooper got his start in the game industry as a balance designer at Relic Entertainment working on Company of Heroes and its expansion set, Opposing Fronts. Cooper joined Blizzard in 2008 as an associate balance designer for StarCraft II. He started working on Heroes of the Storm early on in the project, starting out on balance and hero design before getting promoted to game designer and focusing in on talent design and balance in the game.
In his spare time, Cooper enjoys snowboarding, traveling, hiking, camping, playing poker and video games.
